18 Knoll Drive

This project was for the refurbishment of an existing 70’s style detached property. The client wanted to totally transform the property into a contemporary dwelling.

The clients requirements were to have a large open plan family area to the ground floor with large sliding doors to the rear of the property so that they could utilise the outdoor space.

They also wanted 4 large double bedrooms and 2 ensuites as well as a family bathroom. We had to come up with a bespoke solution so that the brief could be achieved but also retaining the majority of the original structure of the house so that the cost of the development didn’t get out of control.

The planning application was initially refused by the council as they didn’t think the contemporary dwelling was appropriate for the streetscene. We were confident that what we were proposing was appropriate and reflected the era in which is was being developed, much like other properties in the area. We were successful in the planning appeal and the project started on site late in 2013.
