Yarwell Mill ConversionWork has started on site at Yarwell Mill to renovate the Listed Mill Building into 6 luxury apartments. With excellent proximity to the A1 the site is very well linked to vibrant Historic Stamford and Peterborough’s excellent rail links to London via the First Capital Connect and East Coast Mainline.

Yarwell Mill Conversion - craftsmanshipNestled within the picturesque and manicured surroundings of Yarwell Mill Country park the apartments will offer a unique mix of luxury apartment living with all of the security and benefits of a managed country park.

Using experienced local masons and craftsmen the Mill is being sensitively restored with an extensive programme of conservation restoration works including complete extensive lime repointing, replacement of ashlar dressings, lintels, quoins and kneelers and extensive refurbishment of the Welsh slate roof.

Internally the building has been given a new timber framed shell to provide the highest levels of insulation, fire protection and all of the modern services and finishes expected of a modern apartment development whilst retaining many of the idiosyncratic features that make the mill unique.

Yarwell Mill Conversion - detailDating from 1839 the mill will house 6 luxury 2 bedroom apartments over three storeys with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside and river Nene which once flowed beneath the building to power the grain mill.

Hayward McMullan Architects are providing on site support and technical drawings throughout the course of the construction programme to ensure a sensitive and compliant conversion is achieved.

Yarwell Mill is the start of a number of projects within the Stamford and Nene Valley that the practice are involved with including two new townhouses in Stamford’s St Martins conservation area and a large loft conversion to a private house in Nassington.

Works are currently at internal fit out stage and will continue throughout 2017.
